Autonomous Robotics Mechatronic Engineer

Autonomous Robotics Mechatronic Engineer

You will work closely with other researchers and engineers of the centre to design, develop, improve and fabricate robotic platforms, mainly in the aerial robotic domain, such as quadrotor, fixed-wings, and fixed wings with vertical take-off and landing abilities. Your main role will be system-level mechatronic development, enhancement and integration of the different components contributing to the robot's mechatronic, sensor, and actuation stack, such as cameras, inertial sensors, air speed sensors, propulsion systems, energy distribution systems, etc.

Your main role will be the design, development and integration of state estimation algorithms for ground, aerial, marine, and manipulator robots. System Identification Robotics Engineer

Your main role will be the design, development and integration of methodologies to derive the mathematical model of a robotic vehicle (terrestrial, marine, or aerial) from experimental data. This role will include working on the definition of benchmarking processes for collecting data of the vehicles under different conditions (e.g. wind flows or while transporting payloads); definition of mathematical and/or simulation models of such vehicles; parameter identification to improve the performance of the robotic systems or to make it work under unusual, stressful, or extreme conditions. We welcome professionals that are familiar with either black-box data driven models or mathematical white box ones. Billions of physical and digital internet-connected things are now essential to maintaining how we live, work and play, as well as to maintaining the safety and security of our communities. As the number and variety of platforms and connectivity increases, so does the level of security vulnerability and threat.

Our research includes the development of security and resilience across platforms, networks and infrastructure. We’re exploring how to reduce security vulnerabilities, from smartphones to applications, while enhancing the security and resilience of cyber-physical and autonomous systems – including drones and vehicles. Our work focuses on:

• Secure platforms (edge, fog, cloud) and communications

Job Description

• Actively participate on RISCV related security Systems R&D projects, which have the purpose of improving the security of physical systems
• Hands-on contribution on designing and creating proof-of-concepts for RISCV HW and SW, including SW architecture design, implementation and executing experiments, performing evaluation, generating reports, and enabling the technology to be deployed on the edge and cloud
• Research and propose novel around RISCV platform security – in areas like Trusted Execution Environments (TEE), hypervisors, virtualization

Requirements

• Knowledge in Trusted Execution Environments and/or hypervisors and virtualization
• Experienced in some of the platform security area use cases like secure boot, key management, integrity enforcement and attestation, runtime integrity enforcement, crypto services
• Experienced in one or more existing TEE technologies like secure enclaves, SGX, Keystone, ARM Trust zone (TZ), Trusted Applications, OpTEE
• Alternatively experienced in virtualized environments, virtual machine architecture, inter-virtual machine communications, for example with Linux/KVM, Qemu, ACRN, XEN etc.
• Familiarity with Linux kernels, microkernels, drivers, low-level memory handling, interrupt handling
• Experience with ARM architecture and/or RISCV architecture and general development board experience, like board bring up and debugging
• Solid programming skills with C/C++, optionally RUST or other equivalent languages
• Experience with common threat analysis models is a plus
• Experience with sel4 OS or CHERI is a plus
